City of Hinesville

The City of Hinesville is the county seat and largest city in Liberty County. With a population of over 30,000, Hinesville is also one of the fastest growing cities in the State of Georgia in both size and population. Hinesville is the proud home of the 3rd Infantry Division and Fort Stewart with which it shares a special relationship of mutual cooperation. The presence of the active military installation has contributed significantly to the growth of the area. The military installation occupies nearly half of the County's 519 square miles and is the largest employer in the County.

City of Excellence!
In 2004, Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) recognized the City of Hinesville as a “City of Excellence.” The purpose of this award is to recognize Georgia’s best managed and most livable cities. Even with the flourishing growth, Hinesville and Liberty County still retains that small town atmosphere where newcomers and long-time residents work hand-in-hand to achieve a better community. Hinesville has worked hard to improve the quality of life in communities. This award is confirmation that the City of Hinesville is and always will be a progressive community with an eye on the future. Hinesville's community is great for all to live, work and visit!

Fort Stewart

The communities of Hinesville and the surrounding areas are proud to be neighbors of Fort Stewart and all our men and women in uniform.

Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield are the home of the 3rd Infantry Division, and combine to be the Army's Premier Power Projection Platform on the Atlantic Coast. It is the largest, most effective and efficient armor training base east of the Mississippi, covering 280,000 acres including parts of Liberty, Long, Tattnall, Evans and Bryan counties in southeast Georgia.

Hunter Army Airfield is home to the Army's longest runway on the east coast (11,375 feet) and the Truscott Air Deployment Terminal. Together these assets are capable of deploying units such as the heavy, armored forces of the 3rd Infantry Division or the elite light fighters of the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.

Supporting Our Troops

Our community is proud of our troops and the work they do here and around the world. We take every opportunity to show our pride in their accomplishments.

The photo on the left was taken in March of 2003 during a community rally in Hinesville in supports of the troops and their mission in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Harlem Globetrotter

The Harlem Globetrotters visited nearby Savannah in March of 2004. Everyone enjoyed the exhibition at the Civic Center. Some of the guests enjoyed some personal time with the Globetrotters, while everyone enjoyed the on-court exhibition.

Savannah is only 45 minutes from Hinesville and adds to the richness of our area with its history, shopping, beaches, and recreation.

Tip of the Day

The Price of Your Home

Why is it that some homes sit on the market for a year while others sell like hot cakes? Frustrated sellers will blame a bad market, while a good real estate professional will tell you that many times, a slow sale is often attributed to the listing price.

If a home is overpriced, buyers will stay away. But, if the price is competitive with similar homes in the area and "shows" better than the competition, it will have a better chance of being sold quickly.
